Hubble Space Telescope Call for Proposals for Cycle 11 | ||||
|
7.1 General Guidelines
7.1.1 Deadline
The deadline for proposal submission is Friday September 7, 2001, 8:00 pm EDT.
Please submit well before the deadline if possible, to avoid possible last-minute hardware or overloading problems, or network delays/outages. Late proposals will not be considered.
Questions about policies and technical issues should be addressed to the STScI Help Desk (see Section 1.5) well before the deadline. While we attempt to answer all questions as rapidly as possible, we cannot guarantee a speedy response in the last week before the deadline.
7.1.2 Page Limits and Format
You must use current Cycle 11 STScI proposal forms. Do not use forms from prior cycles.
The computer software used in the review and analysis of your proposed observations can interpret the proposal information only if it is in the correct format, so it is essential that you fill out the proposal template carefully and completely.
The default page limit is 10 pages. However, for Large GO proposals (see Section 3.2.2), Treasury GO proposals (see Section 3.2.4) and AR Legacy proposals (see Section 3.4.2) the limit is 13 pages. The font size should not be smaller than 12 pt.
Some subsections of the proposal have a separate page limit, as discussed in Chapter 8. Note in particular that the default page limit for the `Scientific Justification' section (Section 8.15) is 3 pages, except for Large GO proposals (see Section 3.2.2), Treasury GO proposals (see Section 3.2.4) and AR Legacy proposals (see Section 3.4.2), for which this section may use 6 pages; in all cases two more pages are allowed for (optional) figures, tables and references.
The following do not count towards the page limits for the proposal:
- That part of the `Observation Summary' section of the proposal (see Section 8.14) that extends beyond 1 page,
- An optional glossary of acronyms and abbreviations (see Section 8.15),
- The `Previous HST Programs' section of the proposal (see Section 8.22).
