MAKE_ULX

Format: MAKE_ULX IPPPSSOOT

For all instruments except the HRS, see the command SMS_SCAN to create the extracted SMS file.

The WFPC nor the WFPC-2 have unique data logs, and thus there is no need to use this function to construct a .ULX file for these instruments.

Inputs

The output of the SMS_SCAN function, the .SMX file, must exist in the default directory.

In certain situations it is necessary to have the observation's .PKX file in the user's default directory for this command to function properly. For example, if there is an FOS Science Header line which has been commanded, then information from that line is required to be placed in the new .ULX file. IT IS SAFEST TO COPY THE ENTIRE EDT SET OF FILES TO THE USER'S DEFAULT DIRECTORY BEFORE RUNNING THIS COMMAND.

Successful completion of the command will produce a file with the name 'ipppssoot.ULX' in the user's default directory.

The source files (.SMX, .PKX, etc) are assumed to reside in the user's default directory.

HRS_logical

The logical CT_DIR must be defined for the HRS. This logical points to the directory containing the command load report (CTREPORT.RPT).

IPPPSSOOT

The rootname identifying the observation for which the .ULX file has to be generated. The ipppssoot is limited to nine characters. Quotation marks are not allowed.

SCAN_SMS Scan an SMS (.POD) file for an observation's commanded params

$ MAKE_ULX Y00VK104R
This command will create an .ULX file, Y00VK104R.ULX.

$ make_ulx z00u9801r
This command will create an .ULX file, Z00U9801R.ULX.
