Appendix: STIS testingΒΆ

Failures were due to narrow lines as the spectra that were used all have narrow lines and the other reason is that in some spectra only partially overlaps the renormalization band. The emission are in the spectrum or in the background and the differences can be traced to resolution differences between SYNPHOT and pysynphot. An example of this can found in STISACQ1908 and STISACQ1944 where the differences can be explained by interpolation between SYNPHOT and pysynphot. When this interpolation occurs there is a steep gradient within the spectral features and this gradient will cause the differences in the results.
